This is going to take you right through the very basics of making your first mission. It will be a mission where someone has to say something to complete the mission.

This tutorial will involve setting up a trigger to start your mission and the mission itself.

To start with Click on Missions and down the left of the window that pops up you will see Custom. Click on Custom to bring up the custom mission screen.

Then to create a new Mission, click on Add Mission.

Fill in all the areas, so you need a Title, a Description of what the mission is about and of course the Completion Text, which is what comes up when the mission is completed.

Then you need to set an Entry Fee (if you want one) which Experience Path the mission will reward and what Experience Level in that path the person has to be to start your mission. For more information on these fields click on the information button at the end of each row.

Then once all the areas are filled in you can Save your mission.

This brings it into the Custom Missions List. Click on Add Task to add a new task to this mission.

This brings up the Add Task screen which looks similar to the Add Mission screen, but not quite the same.

Same applies though, fill in the Title, Description of the task and Completion Text for the task.

Once you have all that setup its time to set up the task itself. You have a Complete Task By pulldown selection. And below that will be the action that is needed to complete it, so in this case the text that needs to be said to complete the task. Then click Save to complete the setup.

So now you will see both the mission and the task in the Custom Mission screen.

Now it’s time to setup the item that will trigger the start of the mission. In this mission I have decided to use a Scroll, so place a scroll in your room and then click on it to bring up the options screen.

In the options screen you will see Configure Item. Click on Configure Item to bring up more options then click on Interactions to setup the trigger to start the mission.

Within the Interactions you will see Reactions, this is where you setup the trigger to start the mission.

In the Reactions screen you will see React When: For this mission the only option you will have under Action: is Pick Up. Other items have various options in that pull down box. The Reaction pull down box needs to be changed to Start a Mission. Later HowTo’s will take you through the other Reactions.

When you select Start a Mission, another pull down box appears below the first one giving you a list of all your custom missions to choose from. So choose the mission you created earlier and then click Save.

On the bottom left of this screen is a panel that basically shows what will happen with the reactions you have setup.

Your now ready to get one of your friends to test your new mission.

So get them to pick up your scroll and start the mission.

The first few times a mission is completed it doesn’t pay out or pays out very low, this is because the system is still working out the right rate to pay out in tokens and xp.

Your friends can redo your mission once every 24 hours.

I LOVE SMALLWORLDS! You can make your mission say anything. This is just an example to show you how to setup your first mission.

Once the task is complete the Task Complete window will popup.

And look, it’s a mission complete screen.

Tune in next week for another exciting Mission Tutorial. Next week we add an Extra Condition to the mix.
